Experience life in the 1800’s and come join us on the 2008 Cattaraugus County Bicentennial Wagon Train and Stagecoach Run, it is one of several special events planned throughout 2008, the county's 200th birthday.
The Bicentennial Wagon Train and Stagecoach Run is a re-creation of a group of horse-drawn wagons that traveled across the county for the county's 100th birthday in 1908. This 14 day and 180 mile Wagon Train and Stagecoach Run will replicate how pioneers came to Cattaraugus County. Join the train for the entire 2 week ride, for a day or two or for an evening around the campfire when they set up at various locations around the county.
The Wagon train and Stagecoach Run begins in Ellicottiville, New York on August 9th and ends in Little Valley on August 22, 2008.
The Wagon train and Stagecoach run will stop at many communities on its daily route and the arrival of the stagecoach will set the stage for many of the county’s rural communities to have their own bicentennial celebrations. This wagon train is a way for the people of Cattaraugus county as well as other interested people to celebrate their heritage, with a emphasis on the roles horses and wagons have played, and will play in their quality of life. The Crosspatch has been in the planning from the beginning and have many wagons. Everyone is invited to join. If you are interested in being part of history, contact Cattaraugus County at www.cattco.org or Dolly Little at jimdolly@webtv.net
